This is a solid slab of bestial black metal. Even though Embrace of Thorns hails from Greece, they retain no trace of the Hellenic black metal sound. Nope, this is all about Blasphemy, Angelcorpse, Sarcofago, and Beherit worship. There really isn’t much to be said about this, fans of this style will love this if you are not a fan of “war”metal as it’s called then this is not going to change your viewpoint.

This music if relentless and very dark, the blastbeats never stop except to play occasional doom riffs and the guitar work is sloppily played, but effective in it’s chaotic nature. The bass pretty much doesn’t exist, actually the guitars are tuned so low they really do not need bass player. This album is actually pretty short consisting of 8 songs and 4 intros it doesn’t really over stay its welcome. This is pure Blasphemy worship here just listen to the beginning of “Victorious March of the Predator” it sounds almost exactly like “Ritual”.

The songwriting is done well even though it borders on pure plagiarism. Embrace of Thorns is not bad by any means, it’s just that there are bands who play this style even better. Take Blasphemophagher for instance, they play this same style only they inject more old school death metal influences and mix it up really well.

Look, if your into any of the aforementioned “war” metal bands then you are going to love this. If not then look elsewhere for technicality and variety it’s nowhere to be found here!
